- PALOMINO ISLANDS
They are two islands: the first one has a great amount of fauna, where sea lions with funny hair stand out; Some of these specimens weigh about 300 kilograms. In the second, sick and old wolves are concentrated and sheltered, for that reason it is known as «The Hospital».
- CAVINZAS ISLAND
It is a sanctuary of various guano birds such as Peruvian boobies, red-legged cormorants, guanays cormorants, Inca tern, pelicans and Humboldt Penguins.
- SAN LORENZO ISLAND
The largest and highest in Peru. It is 8 km long and 2.2 km wide. Formerly it was considered a feminine deity by the natives of the area, who called it Shina and identified it with beauty and fecundity due to the large amount of fish and shellfish from its coasts; Thanks to this, it played an important economic role in maintaining the old settlements on the Callao coast.
- FRONTON ISLAND
Also called «Isla de los Muertos» (Island of the Dead) since it functioned as a political prison during the colony and the beginning of the republic where once held ex Peruvian president Fernando Belaúnde Terry. Among his prisoners was the Viceroy Blasco Núñez de Vela, deposed in 1544. Later, it was a prison for common criminals.
